Ameren has given the Village All Clear on the Gas line break

[created] | Press Release

We’ve received word that earlier this afternoon, there was a gas line break on the corner of Downing Dr. and County Rd. As a result, County Road has been closed while repairs are being made. In addition, select houses (those on the west side of Downing and east side of Churchill, and two on County Road) have been evacuated, as the potential exists for natural gas to have leaked into the sewage line. While this poses no safety risk to students or staff at Chatham Elementary, it may result in minor delays in bus drop off times for students in that area. Depending on how quickly the repair is made, students who live in the evacuated houses may not be able to enter their houses when they get off the bus. Once the Village receives the “all-clear” from Ameren, residents will be allowed back into their homes. For further updates, please call the Village Office 483-2451 for further information.
