CEMA is hosting a series of community awareness programs. These programs are intended to let the community know just what CEMA is about and how it serves the community. The session will involve a short powerpoint program describing CEMA followed by an open discusssion from participants.

Chatham Business Exercise
CEMA and the Chatham Chamber of Commerces will be hosting an exercise for the businesses in the Village of Chatham. This exercise will be built around the businesses and their ability to prepare, respond, and begin recovery of their businesses. The exercise will also discuss the company's employees involved in a disaster and how to prepare them. First responders will be in attendance to answer questions and to discuss their roles in a disaster involving Chatham.

On February 24, 2015, CEM hosted representatives from businesses, community organizations, Police and Fire First Responders and vilage and township officials for a TableTop Disaster Preparedness Exercise (Tornado.) More than 40 people participated in exploring the gaps in individual and community preparednes, planning, response and recovery capabilities. The successful completion of this exercise helps Chatham comply with the latest county, state and federal standards and requirements, and enhances its position as a regional leader in community readiness.
Weather Spotter Class – National Weather Service, Chatham Community Center
Feb 21, 2015, More than 60 Chatham area residents, first responders and Weather Spotters attended the CEMA sponsored NWS Severe Weather Spotter Class taught by noted Meteorologist Chris Miller.
Attendees learned about spotting Tornados, Gustnados and other severe weather systems. Successful completion of this class satisfies the NWS and CEMA requirements for Weather Spotter Team/Storm Spotter applicants.
