Director of Streets and Parks

 PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

 The Public Works Department oversees the operation of all Village owned property,
this includes Streets, Sidewalks, Storm Sewers, Parks and all Village Buildings and Grounds. The Street Department consists of five full time employees and the Parks Department has three full time and four to five part time employees in the summer months. Both of these Departments are under the direction of the Public Works Director.
 
The Public Works Director is a full time employee hired by the Village Board of Trustees
 
 Public Works Director Meredith Branham
 
Meredith Branham was named the first Public Works Director and the first full time Zoning Administrator for the Village of Chatham in 1991.In September of 1991 he was appointed the Building Code Administrator in conjunction with the adoption of the first Building Codes for the Village of Chatham.
 
Branham joined the Village of Chatham full time in May of 1990 as the Field Technician  with duties of maintaining all Village owned Buildings and Grounds especially the Cemetery. Later that year the Village purchased 72 acres and Branham was instrumental in helping Trustee Terry Burke develop and build Chatham Community Park with the help of Chatham civic groups such as the JC’s, Chatham Baseball, Chatham Township, Ball-Chatham School District etc.
With a back ground in building and management the Public Works Director and Building and Zoning duties fell into place in 1991.
 
Branham graduated from the BOCA Building Inspection School of Joliet Jr. College in February of 1992, the Academy for Municipal Excellence Leadership Enhancement courses at the University of Illinois in 2001, 2002 and 2005, 2006 and trained at the Illinois Public Service Institute in October of 2005.
 
Branham was a registered Radiographer from 1972-1996 and worked as a Surgical Radiographer at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, EMT-I, Certified Fireman, Certified Fire Instructor and was a volunteer Fireman for the Chatham Fire Protection District for 17 years.
He and his wife Roseann have raised two children, Jessica and Clayton
