Transportation
Chatham is located in central Illinois, a convenient mile south of Springfield,
the state capital, and 90 minutes north of St. Louis. Interstate 55 serves the east
boundary, with Illinois Route 4 flowing through the village. Interstate 72 is a
mere 3 miles to the north of Chatham.
Eleven motor freight terminals serve the area along with Southern Pacific
Railway and Amtrak which pass through the Village.
Chatham is located only 14 miles (approximately 20 minutes) South of Springfield's Capitol Airport.
Three commercial airlines serve the airport and link the area to Chicago O'Hare, Chicago Midway, Chicago
Miegs and the St. Louis Lambert Airport. Charter air service is also available. The proximity of the airport
provides Chatham businesses easy access to company location.
